Wurdeman Learning Center
A Bright Future
Recognizing that education is critical to long-term success, the Omaha Home for Boys implies a substantial and continuing commitment to providing the best possible education opportunity.
The Wurdeman Learning Center is crucial in supporting the academic efforts of our youth. Educational services at the learning center go beyond the scope of what is available through the public school system. A comprehensive skills evaluation is completed upon entering the Home to determine the student’s current educational level. An individual academic service plan is then developed to provide the youth with the added support they need to succeed.
Student services include one-on-one tutoring and homework assistance; prescriptive teaching; library services; computer lab to assist with research projects; a multi-media program; music instruction and a life skills cooking program. In their junior and senior years, the boys work with a counselor to start developing goals for the future and planning for the transition to college, a trade school or a job.
